WHO IS SOPHIE JANES?
... you might ask? ...
Hopefully, it wont be long until her name is up
in lights, her music floating harmoniously out
of radios, i-pods and concert venues!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting this very 
talented 21 year old singer/songwriter, before her 
concert in London, when she commissioned me to 
create some original jewellery pieces to be worn at 
her recent live show in London.

Sophie visited my studios, armed with a beautiful
gold sequined, black velvet vintage dress, 
that she had chosen to wear at the concert and we 
discussed ideas and styles to blend...

With just one week to create the suite of jewellery,
I opted to use wire (instead of metal) to make 2 large
cuff bangles, as well as a necklace cuff and matching
earrings. Sophie wanted something bold and sparkly to 
stand out on stage. She had a definite vision of the
look that she wanted to create. The great thing about
working with 'wire' is that you can make very bold, 
statement pieces, just by creating frames and bases on 
which to wire wrap beads, building up with layers of fine 
wires.

BEADS DIRECT supplied all the necessary materials 
and I used the same style of design as the Beads Direct 

'Cosmic Bangle' kit from my Create and Craft TV show 
that was on 8th May (image below), which Sophie had seen
and liked!

To compliment Sophie's dress neckline, we discussed
suspending a pendant drop from the choker cuff and 
the wire 'heart' detail seemed to be a good option, 
with a faceted crystal teardrop bead connected to the
base ... which I found in my stash, salvaged from a broken 
chandelier!

 

Then it was just a case of creating some matching earrings 
and the set was complete!

The result was, that she looked like a divine GODDESS 
on stage!

To top it all! Ellie Verkerk, musician and musical arranger,
decorated her feet to perfection, completing the golden look, 
for the girl with the golden voice!
